Senate cancels post UTME, extends JAMB’s validity period to 3 years

THE Senate Thursday passed into law that which would guarantee the validity of any admission offered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB to any candidate for a period of three academic years from the date of the conduct of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Also, the Senate finally put to rest the controversy trailing the conduct of the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) by the Universities, thereby declaring it illegal and unconstitutional, just as the upper chambers said that with the decision, the question of who was in charge of admission has been answered.
Deliberating on the report by the Senator Barau Jibrin led Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, of a Bill for an Act to amend the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Act and other matters connected thereof, 2016( SB.245), the senators amended subsection (a) of section 5 to read as follows: ” 5(b) the Matriculations Examinations conducted by the Board shall be the sole examinations required for admission and entry into all Universities, ‘ Polytechnics (by whatever name called) and Colleges of Education (by whateVer name called), to the exclusion of any other institution or body.”
With the passage of the bill, it would now require the president to assent to the bill where it would then become a law and with the bill coming from the Executive, President Muhammadu Buhari may not delay in the signing of the bill into law.
It would be recalled that on Wednesday 1st June 2016, the Senate of Federal Republic at its sitting read JAMB Amendment bill 2016 (SB.245) the second time and referred same to the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund. The purpose of the bill was to amend the JAMB Act to increase validity period of JAMB examination from one academic year to three academic years.

The Committee in considering the Bill, made reference to Votes and Proceedings and Verbatim reports of Wednesday 2nd March 2016, particularly to the contributions of Members regarding the financial hardship experienced yearly by parents/guardians in Sponsoring the candidates for JAMB examination.
On the three year validity of the result, the report said, ” Validity of Section 6: ‘ “6. (i)any examination conducted by the Board pursuant to the powers conferred by this Act shall be valid for a period of three academic years from the date of the examination.

Attempt on Wike’s life by security operatives, a sacrilege – PDP

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, has described as most sacrilegious, the
attempt by security operatives of the Department of
State Services (DSS) and policemen to shoot the State
Governor, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike for intervening in
the illegal move to abduct a Federal High Court judge
serving in the State in the early hours of Saturday,
October 8, 2016.
A statement by the State chairman of the Party, Bro
Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media
and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the unruly behavior of
the overzealous security operatives is the worst of its
kind in the history of Nigeria and is a cause for concern.
Though the target is to find reason to declare a state of
emergency in the State, Bro Obuah noted, the
President, the National Assembly members, Judicial
Officers, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and all
relevant authorities and stakeholders should be put on
notice on these acts of recklessness against Rivers
State as injury to one is injury to all.
There is no doubt that the Rivers State experience is
exceptional and the democratic abuse bysecurity
agencies and their political paymasters is aimed at
testing the mindset of the people and if left to stand will
definitely go round and translate into a national malaise,
the State PDP chairman lamented.

According to him it’s unheard of anywhere in the world
where legally constituted authorities like the DSS and
the Police will break into the residence of a legitimate
federal judicial officer of the status of a judge for the
purpose of arrest in the wee hours of the day,
citingorder from above as their reason.
“This is an act of brigandage and roguery, worse still
when a serving governor intervened, same security
agents cocked their guns against the State Chief
Executive/Security Officer in the presence of the State
Police Commissioner and Director of DSS. This, though
real is most unbelievable”.
The State PDP chairman however appealed to Rivers
people to remain calm in the face of the unprovoked
attack and siege being perpetuated by those opposed to
peace in the State so that they can have their way and
continue with their exploitation underdevelopment of
Rivers State.
“We are happy and grateful God is on our side. Each
time they come up with a new strategy to cause mayhem
they end up hitting the air because even the gods of the
land abhor their intentions.
Nonetheless, this particular sacrilege of attempting to
shoot our Governor will never be taken kindly,” Bro
Obuah said.

Governor Wike and the Law

In River State, the administration of justice is
undergoing historical overhaul. Governor Nyesom Wike,
who had himself experienced firsthand why justice is as
important as the law, if not more important, is ensuring
that justice is swift and smooth for all in the state.
His travails after the last general elections have
brought home to him the imperative of justice if
democracy is to take firm roots in the country.
But it also taught him a lesson. And that is – justice can
never be taken for granted. No one must assume he
would win a case because his case is good. It takes the
officers of the law to make a good case truly good. That
is why judges are a special group. They hold the scale of
justice, and can weigh you down or lift you up –
sometimes, sadly, just depending on their mood!
That is why a country needs to take care of the Bench.
The conflicting judgments from the courts in recent
months is clear testimony that the bench holds the ace
if democracy is to survive.
Governor Wike is keenly aware of this, and his
administration has found ways of helping the law deliver
justice. And one of the ways, as demonstrated recently,
is to make judicial officers comfortable enough to make it
difficult to pervert the course of justice. As a
demonstration of this, Wike gave out 57 Honda cars to
magistrates in the state. At the ceremony, the governor
said he gave them the vehicles to provide enabling
environment for the magistrates to “dispense justice
according to the law.”

Moving forward, Wike also acquired 4.1 hectares of land
at the Port Harcourt GRA for the construction of
suitable residential quarters for judges in the state. This
is aside other perks of office the Wike administration has
approved for judicial officers in the state.
At the ceremony, Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice
Adama Iyayi-Lamikanran, commended the governor and
said the gesture would enhance the dispensation of
justice in the state. She urged the magistrates and
other judicial officers to reciprocate Wike’s gesture by
putting in their best, while noting that providing such
enabling environment at a time of financial distress, was
a testimony to the governor’s belief in the law as a
means of attaining justice.
If truth be told, provision of cars or housing, or even
jumbo pay for judges would on their own lead to better
dispensation of justice. The Wike administration’s desire
to rid Rivers of cultism will only succeed with the
cooperation of judiciary and the law enforcement
agencies. Cult-clashes and other cult-related violence
have posed some security challenges for the state,
especially Port Harcourt.
It is heart-warming that the governor has demonstrated
exemplary determination to stem the tide and restore
sanity to the state. Towards this end, he has given the
necessary support to law enforcement agencies in the
state to enable them tackle the menace of cultism.
According to him, the protection of the residents of the
state is paramount for his administration.
At a function recently, he said: “I have provided the
required support and logistics to the security agencies
to tackle these cultists. Nobody remotely involved will be
spared. No cultist will go free.”
But that is only one part of the equation. The other
part is the prosecution of offenders. This is where the
judiciary is central and critical. Wike knows he needs the
courts to be swift and smooth in delivering justice.
The activities of the cult groups have usually
compromised security during elections and public events.
As a result, Governor Wike has come under tremendous
national pressure to stem the tide and change the
narrative, a call he has heeded with uncommon passion.
Nothing will demonstrate goodwill by the judiciary than
to rise up to the occasion by being swift, decisive and
impartial in handling cases relating to cult matters in the
state. The governor has lived up to his social contract
with the judiciary by looking to their welfare; therefore,
the Bench should shun any form of indolence.
River is a beloved state to many Nigerians. Now that
Wike has laid his cards on the table, those who would
play with him must demonstrate similar integrity and
resourcefulness. Justice must not be delayed or denied.
It is what Rivers need. It is what Rivers should get.

Police role in aborted arrest of judge in Rivers exposed

LAGOS—Vivid details of the role played by the police in
Rivers State during the aborted arrest of a judge of the
Federal High court in Port Harcourt, in the early hours
of Saturday emerged yesterday, after sources disclosed
that the Directorate of State Services, DSS, in the
state informed the Commissioner of Police about the
operation before it started.

It was gathered that the DSS in the state had earlier
called to inform the Commissioner of Police, Francis
Odesanya, that his men were going to effect the arrest.
The police boss reportedly complied accordingly by
directing his men to cooperate and give them all
necessary support.
According to police sources, it was in the early hours of
the morning and nobody would have been expected to
open his doors freely to visitors, so, the judge refused to
open his doors to DSS officials.
The source said: “The DSS office shares the same fence
with that of the judge. If they had wanted to accomplish
the arrest successfully without much fuss, there are
many options left for them.
‘’They should have either scaled the fence to enter the
compound or gone with the necessary instruments for
the operation.
‘’The governor arrived there with a retinue of members
of his cabinet and members of the House of Assembly.
While the DSS operatives were dilly-dallying, the
governor and his team started obstructing them.
“When the situation was getting intolerable around 1am,
the Commissioner of Police arrived the scene. He spoke
with the DSS boss and later went to persuade the
governor to allow them do their work advising that if
there was any breach, it should follow due process later.
‘’The commissioner of police reportedly insisted that the
governor should not obstruct justice. When the
governor refused to give way, the police boss ordered
his ADC to move away from the scene and he complied.
‘’The DSS attempted to move in but the governor, again
without his ADC and other policemen that accompanied
him who were obeying the Cp’s order, started
obstructing them.”
This, according to sources, was the stand-off until
around 4am when journalists and other interested
parties arrived.

Igbo Man Arrested For Naming Dog “Buhari”

A 30-year-old Igbo trader has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for naming his pet dog 'Buhari'.
The trader, Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, of No 10, Omikunle Street, Sango-Ota, was reportedly arrested last weekend.

One of his neighbours of Northern extraction had complained bitterly that he named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari. It was learned that the complainant reported the case at Sango Police Station, last Saturday, after which the trader was arrested and detained. However, it was gathered that efforts by the police to recover the dog, which they intended using as evidence, failed following a clever move by
the suspect. The trader had allegedly directed his friends secretly to kill the dog and
possibly eat the meat in order to avoid implications. It was gathered that consistent appeals by his friends and relations for the police to grant him bail failed. That was because the complainant and his kinsmen reportedly threatened to kill the trader if he was released on bail. The case, however, took a different dimension two days later when Chinakwe's relatives went to Sango Police Station to further plead for his bail.

They were informed that the case file and the suspect have been transferred to Ogun State Police Command Headquarters at Eleweran. A relation to the suspect, who simply identified himself as Chiedozie, told Vanguard that his brother was being persecuted for no just cause. He expressed fears that he may either be poisoned inside police cell or thrown into jail. Chiedozie said: “Chinakwe is a lover of dogs and he names them after things that tickle him. “He bought this dog a year ago and named it Buhari. “Unfortunately, some Northerners, who dominate the vicinity where he resides misconstrued his intention and connived to take him up. “The complainant then claimed it was derogatory because his father answers Buhari.”
Police sources, however, told Vanguard that the actions of the suspect “were very provocative.”

One of the sources said: “He not only named the dog Buhari but boldly wrote it on the body of both sides of the dog and was seen parading the neighbourhood dominated by Northerners with it.” As at press time, relations to the suspect were still making frantic efforts to effect his bail while his accusers insist that he must be prosecuted. When contacted around 8pm yesterday, the acting Police Spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, ASP, said he was still trying to get the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Sango for details. Oyeyemi later called, stating: “I have made enquiries. The man bought a dog and inscribed Buhari on both sides of its body. “One Mallam lodged a complaint and when our men got there, we found out that it was true. “You know such thing can cause serious breach of the peace and ethnic or religious unrest. “We are charging him to court for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.” Continuing, he said: “He was arrested last Saturday and we are taking him to court later today (Tuesday) or tomorrow morning (today).
“You know an average Northerner will feel bad over such a thing. “It can cause serious ethnic crisis or religious confrontation because when you are relegating such a name to a certain person, you are
indirectly insulting him.” When asked about the whereabouts of the dog that will be used as evidence
against the suspect, the police spokesman said: “The dog cannot follow anybody except the owner. We will use him as our evidence because he did not deny it.” The post Igbo Man Arrested For Naming Dog “Buhari” appeared first on Pointblank News .

Shoking: How pastor defiled 24 teenage boys in Ebonyi

gay rape

One Paul Morah, a pastor at Enyibichiri community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has been arrested for allegedly defiling over 24 male children.
His victims are said to be between the ages of 12 and 17 years, New Telegraph reports.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP George Okafor, who confirmed the report on Wednesday, said he would brief journalists when investigation was concluded.
The PPRO said Morah, who hails from Orji River in Enugu State and claimed to be a reverend with Anglican Church, was on a pastoral mission in Ebonyi.
It was alleged that he used a diabolical handkerchief to lure some of the children, especially those who tried to resist him.
The PPRO said, “We are aware of the matter. It has just been transferred from Ikwo Police Division to the headquarters.
“We are still investigating the matter. But latest tomorrow, we will get back to press.”
Speaking on the incident, the community town union president, Hon. Nwoba Sylvanus, said, “It was in the early hours of yesterday morning that one of my chairmen, Sunday Nwibo, of a sub-ward called me and brought the information to me.
“I told him he should go and arrange some boys to go to the man and arrest the man for him to be handed over to the police for investigation. At that hour it happened, we only identified four children – the oldest is about 17 years.
“One of them is in primary six, two are in JSS II and the other one is in JSS III. But from the investigation of the divisional police officer at Noyo junction, the children are up to 24 now.”
Earlier, the Coordinator of Ikwo East Development Centre, Hon. Chinedu Ogbuoji, confirmed the incident and described it as pathetic.
Ogbuoji said, “The incident is a pathetic one because these days some people hide themselves under the umbrella of religion to perpetrate evil.
“He told us that his name is Paul Morah from Enugu State. He claimed to be a pastor but when we interrogated him further, he said he spent only three weeks in the church before he was suspended by the Anglican Church in Enyibichiri community.
“People from my area reported the incident to me and I intervened with the support of the town union leader and the youth.
“We went there; he was apprehended and handed over to the police. We want to assure you of more investigation. Some of the children claimed they are members of the church. Nobody knew what he used to lure the children but we heard that at times, he uses diabolical handkerchief to lure them.”
“He told us that he is a pastor in Anglican Church but when one of the pastors of Anglican Church was contacted, he said they have suspended him for over three months.
“The pastor said when he came to them, after observing him; they discovered he was fake and was not working in line with the doctrines of the church,” the coordinator stated.

Niger Delta Avengers demand release of corpses of pro-Biafra agitators, threatens more attacks

militants
The Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, has demanded that the federal government immediately release corpses of Biafra supporters allegedly killed on Monday by security agents or risk more attacks from them as from Friday, June 3.
The militants further said they will retaliate against the security agents over what they described as “unprovoked massacre of peace-loving Biafra people” in Onitsha, Anambra State.
In an ultimatum issued on Wednesday, via an online platform, the militants said the decision was taken after an emergency meeting of leaders of the various militant groups in the region.
Representatives of Niger Delta People’s Democratic Front, NDPDF, and Concerned Militant Leaders, CML, Precious Iyoyo (General Playboy) and General Ben respectively, pointed out that the brutality of security agents against the citizens was disheartening.
The Niger Delta militants claimed they witnessed how members of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, were killed in unprovoked circumstances.
General Playboy said, “So many Niger Delta militants witnessed what happened in Onitsha.
“We are too pained to keep quiet. If the Federal Government fails to release them by Friday, June 3, 2016, they will hear from us from Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Edo states.”
Similarly, General Ben noted that the actions of soldiers and policemen last Monday were clear declaration of war on innocent and helpless Nigerians.
He said, “It is now war between the militants and security men. Since innocent and helpless citizens, especially from South-South and South East, have been marked out for extinction, we will defend our people. We will go after security men in an unprecedented manner both in sea and on land. Federal Government should expect more attacks from us.
“We’ll tell the Federal Government that the Niger Delta region is our terrain and no amount of military troops and their armoury will dampen our spirit.
“The Federal Government should know that the more attacks on Biafra, the more aggressive we become. This is war that involves all of us.”
It would be recalled that scores of Biafra agitators were allegedly killed on Monday, in some states, during the celebration of the 49th anniversary of Biafra proclamation by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

PDP vows to declare seats of defecting Reps vacant

maduekwe

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday threatened to ensure that two of its members in the House of Representatives who decamped from the party on Wednesday, lose their seats in the Lower Chamber.
The two Reps members: Tony Nwoye from Anambra state and Udende Emmanuel from Benue state had announced their decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In separate letters which were read on the floor of the House by Speaker Yakubu Dogara, the lawmakers cited division in the PDP as the reason for their defection, explaining that the party had broken into three factions headed by Ali Modu Sheriff, Ahmed Makarfi and Jerry Gana, respectively, and that they did not wish to belong to any faction.
But in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the party, Ojo Maduekwe, the party insisted that there was no faction in the PDP, stressing that there was only one approved National Convention which took place in Port Harcourt on Saturday 21st of May, 2016, which, it said, was, in accordance with the PDP Constitution.
The statement disclosed that the party “approved some far reaching resolutions that had the unanimous support of those who attended the Port Harcourt Convention with subsequent endorsements of another PDP political meeting that took place in Abuja on the same day”.
It stated that the conveners of the Abuja meeting had since integrated their positions with the structures and resolutions of the Port Harcourt Convention, adding that aggrieved members are being reconciled across the length and breadth of the country.
The statement read in part, “Subsequent meetings of, first, Board of Trustees members, and secondly, meetings with Governor’s Forum, Leadership of National Assembly and Former Ministers in PDP Government Forum, and a PDP Former Governor’s Forum, held, and decided to work together.
“The rank and file of the Party have resolved to work together, and PDP has never been stronger than it is now since its entry into the honourable role of a robust and principled opposition.
“Any suggestion of a faction, is at best ill-informed and ignorant, and at worst, is part of a grand plan to decimate the only political platform today, that is ready, experienced and able to honour the nation’s invitation to have a credible opposition party that will hold Government of the day accountable and thereby strengthen and nourish our young democracy.
“Let it therefore be understood by those of our members in the National Assembly who may be tempted to jump ship, or have already jumped, that on the basis of clear decisions of cases decided in the Supreme Court, they stand the risk of losing their seats in Parliament if they went ahead with their latest indulgence.”
The party threatened to declare vacancy and call for elections in affected constituencies in the event of such “misguided defections”, disclosing that “The pattern of PDP electoral victories all over the federation since the 2015 General Elections shows that where there is election arising from such vacancies, PDP will return a more credible and more loyal representative of the people.”

How we arrested female DELSU student who impersonated Wizkid, duped fans over N12.9m – Manager

ifeoma
Fresh facts have emerged regarding the identity of the lady who impersonated Nigerian pop star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, aka Wizkid on social media and defrauded the singer’s fans.
It had been reported that the Lagos State Police Command had arrested the 19-year-old girl, Ifeoma Nelly, who reportedly defrauded many people of over $65,000, equivalent of about N12.9million.
Her arrest reportedly came after the singer complained to the police commissioner that someone had been impersonating him and collecting money for shows.
The police swung into action and the 19-year-old was apprehended.
Nelly is said to be a student of Industrial Chemistry at the Delta State University.
She was reportedly arrested through the combined efforts of Wizkid’s Manager, Mr. Sunday Are, policemen from Lagos and an Australian.
According to the statement by the singer’s manger, the suspected fraudster was arrested when she came to Lagos to collect part payment of $25,000 from some Australians at a hotel in Lagos, so that Wizkid would go to Australia to perform.
Before the suspect used to collect payment via electronic, but because she was desperate to get her hands on the $25,000, she decided to meet the Australian.
Revealing how the suspect was arrested, the statement said, “The lady said she had been posing on Facebook and defrauding people for three years, using Wizkid.”
“Nelly, when asked if she had other members assisting her, insisted that she was the only one running the show.
“She has collected money from different people. If you don’t have evidence against her, she would deny it but if you show her evidence, she would tell you the truth. There was the case of the $53,000, which we had to refund to the owner. She confirmed that she was the one who collected it.
“There was another payment of $12,500 from Germany. The Germany people sent details of how they paid the money to her. She couldn’t deny it.
“We had to start refunding money to different victims when the nefarious activities of the suspect became embarrassing.
“We had been having problems with different clients because of this. We keep refunding all the money. It was an issue.
“When it became serious, we had to refund the money to victims. Some people will just go, write in papers that Wikzid disappointed them. They would say Wizkid and his manager collected money and didn’t come to perform.
Meanwhile, we didn’t know about those shows. The lady, not only use Wizkid’s name to open the Facebook accounts, but also used Wizkid’s name to register the phone she was using.
“Whenever someone calls her or she calls someone, its Wizkid’s name that would show.
“True caller shows Wizkid. We need everybody to help us fight this. We’ve started working towards doing something about the fake accounts.
“I and Wizkid went to Zambia for a show. We were there when I received a call from some people in Australia. The caller said he wanted to know if he was speaking with Sunday Are, Wizkid’s manager. The Australian said that he had been speaking with someone, pretending to be Are.
“The Australian said that he had almost concluded negotiation for Wizkid to come to Australia to perform and was just about to pay $25,000 part payment, when he heard that Wizkid was in Zambia.
“They said someone wanted to collect money from them in Lagos, Nigeria, for Wizkid to come and perform. They now found out that I was in Zambia.
“I planned with them on how to make this arrest. I talked to them to convince the suspect to come and collect cash in a hotel in Lagos. That was how I managed to arrest her.
“She came along with two friends. They were two ladies and a guy. She looked like a guy.
“It took us three to four hours before we could believe she was a lady. She wore native clothes and spotted low cut, like she is Sunday Are. She wore Rolex wrist watch. She bought clothes for the lady that came with her because that one said she didn’t have any clothes good enough to wear to come and collect the money.
“The arrest happened in a hotel in Lagos.
“I planted policemen inside the hotel room. The people gave the lady an Australian number, saying the Australian didn’t have a Nigerian number.
“Everything looked genuine. The show was to be in Australia, the phone number was an Australian number and the man she was speaking with, was a white man. But the man was actually in Australia, directing them to come to the hotel to collect cash.
“They entered the room and we arrested them,” he added.

Another militant group emerges in Niger Delta, threatens to launch six missiles

niger-delta-militants
Another militant group has emerged in the Niger Delta, calling itself the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, JNDLF, and threatening to begin launching six missiles in the region on June 7 in an operation it said would surprise Nigerians and the entire world.
It warned the Nigerian military to peacefully leave Ijaw communities and not attempt to deploy helicopters to the South South zone as it is going to bring them down.
The group, which claimed affiliation to the Niger Delta Avengers, warned that no flight operations should take place within the country’s airspace as the missiles were capable of bringing down any aircraft no matter how big.
In a statement signed by  General Akotebe Darikoro, Commander, General Duties; General Torunnanaowei Latei, Creeks Network Coordinator; General Agbakakuro Owei-Tauro, Pipelines Bleeding Expert; and General Pulokiri Ebiladei of its Intelligence Bureau, the group said it had observed that President Muhammadu Buhari was bent on breaking up the country and that it was set for the proposal.
The statement reads in full: “We have seen and noted that President Muhammadu Buhari (a.k.a. Pharaoh) is set for the final breakup of the country. Mr. Buhari should also know that we are also prepared and set for his proposal. The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) which is the highest organ of all the freedom fighting body has finally endorsed the followings:
1. After extensive and exhaustive deliberation by all Commanders of various groups in Yenagoa, the heart of the Niger Delta struggle met last night and as part of our mission, we are going to test six (6) of our MISSILES in the region. This is to show the federal government of our readiness of the American prediction.
2. There should be NO any form of helicopter to fly around in the region as we will not guarantee the safety of such object.
3. The people of the Niger Delta region should not be panic in course of test running the 6 MISSILES.
4. We may also decide within the week to shut down the Nigerian satellite orbit, so that there will be no communication in the country if needs arise.
5. Within our three (3) days operations, NO airplane should fly out of the country because it can target such object no matter how small or big it may be.
6. Our Fighter Expert Team shall be positioned in the six (6) Niger Delta states, who are already arrived the region from training through our country’s porous borders with our foreign partners who are going to showcase what they have learnt in the past one year.
7. Our struggle is not for any human blood, but we have been pushed to the wall for justice because our patience is running out on a daily basis as Nigerian uniform men are killing our innocent people continuously.
8. Nigerian military should as a matter of urgency leave peacefully the Ijaw communities they are presently in, the next 48 hours under the guise of searching for the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) or else we should not be blamed of whatever catastrophe that may befall such officers and the likely affected families of the officers should be blamed not the region.
9. We have consulted our war gods (deities) that enough is enough and that the time has come. Since the present Pharaoh of Nigeria, President Buhari is to preside over the disintegration of the country, it is a good omen.
10. Henceforth, any attack on Ijaw communities or person(s) by the military or para-military body in the region, we will not hesitate to order our shoot-at-sight squad of any uniform personnel in the region.
11. We ask all Service Chiefs including Minister of Defence to shamefully resign their positions because Nigeria has no security in whatever form. Bravo to our Foreign Marine Crack Team for their ability to shut down Nigerian obsolete surveillance equipments.
12. For the records, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) are not in Delta state, we only go there to strike and return back safely to the struggle base, Bayelsa state.
13. We further warn especially, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, Information Commissioner in Bayelsa state not to criticize our activities any longer or else he has a choice of leaving the planet earth anytime he made such statement(s).
14. All oil and gas operations should shut down immediately as our MISSILES testing will affect their equipments.
15. NOTE, we shall commence MISSILES testing on Tuesday 7, June 2016 which coincides with the date of our training abroad. Since the present Pharaoh of Nigeria (Buhari) has failed us in our demands, we promise Nigerians and the entire world that we are going to surprise them.

Lawyers write AGF, want Boko Haram sponsors probed, prosecuted

Female lawyers
A body of legal professionals identified as Lawyers United for Equality and Human Rights Advocacy has written to the Attorney-General of the Federation, demanding the probe and prosecution of Boko Haram insurgents and their sponsors at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a letter to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Malam Abubakar Malami which was made available to DAILY POST in Abuja, the group noted it was obvious that there was international sponsorship of terrorism which it said was encouraging the resurgence of militancy in other parts of the country.
The document which was signed by the group’s convener, BarristerEdward Omaga, averred that taking the steps of prosecution would not only stem the tide of terrorism, but would be a departure from mistakes of the past.
“Of course, the federal government should realise that there is nowhere in the world where the magnitude of crimes perpetuated by Islamic Terrorists – Boko Haram and that of the current Niger Delta Avengers took place without prosecution at the International Criminal Court,” the group maintained.
The group also pointed that recent developments showed that Boko Haram terrorists were still in touch with their sponsors for political reasons.
“The recent developments in Nigeria which are capable of causing serious political upheavals are pointers to the fact that the top politicians in Borno State who created Boko Haram are still in touch with their “foot soldiers”, they said.
They reasoned that having gone this far in decimating Boko Haram insurgency, the lack of prosecutions of their sponsors will bring about continued heinous crimes in the North East and Nigeria in general.
According to the group, the brutal killing of over 10,000 people since 2009 by the insurgents was too much of a crime that must be prosecuted in order to preserve the peace of the nation in future.
“It is our duty as a group of refined legal minds to fight and preserve Nigeria- the country that gave every Nigerian a home and heritage especially since 2009, over 10,000 Nigerians have been killed,” they said.

The Federal Government on Thursday scrapped the conduct of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, post UTME, for candidates seeking admission into higher institutions, adding that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after the one conducted by JAMB.
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who stated this in Abuja after declaring open the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria, said all tertiary institutions were at liberty to conduct screening for candidates seeking admission into any school.
While expressing confidence in the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Adamu said: “As far as I am concerned the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing. The universities should not be holding another examination and if the universities have any complain against JAMB let them bring it and then we address it.
“If JAMB is qualified enough to conduct tests and they have conducted test then there will be no need to conduct another test for students to gain admission.”
The Minister, however, requested JAMB to stop extra charges on several categories of changes on admissions such as the change of course, change of school and others.

Students protest ‘no school fees, no exam’ policy in Auchi

Auchi
Some students of Federal Polytechnic Auchi in Edo, on Thursday protested the “no school fees, no exam” policy adopted by the institution’s management.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the protest resulted in the vandalism of no fewer than 100 vehicles and several properties.
The situation was however brought under control by the police and members of Auchi Vigilante Service.
Already, the management of the institution has closed down the school, to prevent escalation of the violence.
Sources said several students allegedly involved in the protest were arrested by the police.
The incident was said to have started when some of the students were denied access to write their first semester exam.
The affected students were said to have mobilised themselves and disrupted other students already writing their exams, before vandalising vehicles and properties.
Some of the students who spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, said it was unfair to deny them the chance to take the exams.
“We are protesting because the school management prevented us from writing our first semester examination on the account that we are yet to pay our fees.
“The school management is not fair to us and we want the policy reversed,” one of them said.
Reacting to the development, the Dean, School of Evening Studies, Mr Mahmmud Garuba, faulted the protest by the students.
Garuba said that the management had announced the “no school fees, no exam policy” prior to the commencement of the examinations.
“Those that were denied access into the examination hall were not students; as they have not registered since they claimed to have gained admission into the polytechnic.
“Enough sensitisation was done on the “no school fees, no examination” policy by the management and for them to go on riot and destroy properties of the institution, it is unacceptable,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Mr Mustapha Oshiobugie, also said that those prevented from writing the examination were not registered students of the institution.
“The management is sitting now and at the end of their meeting they would come up with their decision.”(NAN)
